As the frost thaws across the valley, SHAL Farm is preparing to open its gates for our annual Spring Planting Festival. This season marks our largest crop expansion yet, and we are opening our fields to neighbors, families, and long-time supporters who want to experience the start of the growing season firsthand.
Hands-On Soil and Heritage Seeds
Visitors will have the opportunity to work alongside our head growers in the seedling greenhouses. We will be potting heirloom tomatoes, wild sweet peppers, and early summer herbs. Everyone leaves with their own potted seedling to tend at home, alongside practical tips on soil care and organic composting.
Farm Kitchen and Local Gatherings
The day concludes around our open-air courtyard with wood-fired sourdough pizzas, fresh farm greens, and cider from nearby orchards. Local musicians will perform throughout the afternoon, making it a true celebration of community and agriculture.
