Healthy crops start long before the first seed touches the ground. This month, SHAL Farm completed a major upgrade to our composting infrastructure, moving us one step closer to a fully closed-loop agricultural ecosystem.

Building a True Closed-Loop System

By combining crop leftovers, fallen leaves, and organic matter from our livestock pastures, we are producing high-grade compost right on the farm. This rich soil amendment eliminates the need for synthetic fertilizers while dramatically reducing moisture loss in our outdoor raised beds during dry months.
